Institutional Services

TSSS undertakes some projects in view of its sustainability. The ongoing interventions need both human and material resources. Some recurring programmes and established institutions are the major sources of support.

It is beneficial to the people and the public while it also caters to the maintenance and development of different programmes and projects.

Illavenil Working Women’s Hostel:

With the noble objective of sustaining the interventions of TSSS in favour of the child workers and abolition of child labour practices, Ilanvenil working women’s hostel was constructed with the benevolence of late.Mrs.Ingeborg Czajkowski in the year 2000. Working women and children of disadvantaged families are given boarding and lodging at subsidized rates. They are given due protection and guidance. They are also encouraged to follow Catholic teachings and faith by providing space for them to partake in daily prayers, holy mass, retreat, celebrations and festivals. Following are the particulars of working women and students:

VAANAVIL KALAI ARANGAM (Community Hall):

This community hall is situated in Tirunelveli Junction. Social development seminars, workshops, federation meetings and other consultations take place at the community hall. The community hall is also given to the public for holding family functions such as marriage, reception, baptism and first communion etc. TSSS too holds some of its trainings and meetings at the hall.

VAIGARAI COMMUNITY HALL:

It is located near the NGO colony in Tirunelveli city. It is also open for the public for community gatherings. Following are the details regarding the programmes conducted at Vaigarai community hall.

V.M. Chatram Farm:

Paddy, vegetables, mango fruits and coconuts are grown in the farm. During the reporting year 5 acres of land was put to paddy cultivation.. There are also livestock at the farm to support it.  The vegetables and fruits harvested from the farm are produced organically and hence they are tastier, healthy and nutritive. They are brought to the organic market outlet run at TSSS in Palayamkottai.

Pope John Paul Training Centre:

The Pope John Paul   Training Centre located at Bharathi Nagar is a residential unit with good facilities and conducive atmosphere for an ideal training programme. The centre is mainly used for trainings and meetings of staffs and community based organizations promoted by TSSS. However, the catholic diocese and other religious houses and NGOs use it for their training, retreats and official meetings.

During the period under review, the training centre was well utilized by TSSS for holding the training programmes of Mahalir Thittam. TSSS being the official trainer appointed by Tamilnadu Voluntary Resources Centre, the training of office bearers of PLF and members of SHGs were held at the training centre.
