Micro-insurance programme is very much beneficial to the poor and impoverished target people and their families in the events of accident, death and it is helpful for the target families to face the ill-fated consequences boldly and to begin their lives again for the betterment of the survivors. The coordinator of micro-insurance programme participated in the monthly and quarterly meetings held at LIC Divisional office at Palayamkottai regularly.
The LIC officials took part in the meetings and programmes of TSSS twice, once at Women Resource Centre, KTC Nagar for awakening the TSSS staff and leaders about the programmes and services of LIC-India and another time at the food fete organized by TSSS in Kovilpatti for the promotion of LIC micro-insurance polices.
The joint efforts of Ariyappapuram and Thipanampatty people’s federations brought good road facility to the villages.
Keezhapavoor union consists of 21 panchayats. The road connecting Ariyappapuram panchayat office to Thippanampatti village was in dilapidated conditions.The road has been utilized by the mini-bus and state transport corporation buses for connecting the villages of Kadayam, Mettur, Thoranamalai, Veikalpatti and Poovanoor which lie in between Ariyappapuram and Thippanampatti. The farmers of the area used to send their agricultural produce such as paddy and vegetables through lorrys by making use of this road. Due to dilapidation and worn-out conditions, many accidents occur in this road and the loaded heavy vehicles get overturned often. This has made the self help groups functioning in the village to discuss this matter in their meetings and to submit a petition to the Panchayat President. While submitting a petition to the Panchayat President of Ariyappapuram, he explained the difficiulty that this road neither falls under the jurisdiction of Ariyappapuram panchayat nor under Thippanampatti panchayat and it is under the control of Pavoorchatiram union. He took many efforts for making the officials of Pavoorchatiram union to give heed to his plea but till on date nobody heard his plea. Hence, the members of women federations made a resolution in their meetings and submitted a petition to the Collector of Tirunelveli District.Their continuous efforts finally paved way and Rupees twelve lakhs was sanctioned by the Collector to repair and renovate the dilapidated road. The new road has brought happiness in the face of the school going children, daily wage earners, farmers and the general public of Ariyappapuram and Thippanampatti villages.The people are very grateful to TSSS women federations for their continous and united actions.
