About us

Tirunelveli Social Service Society, popularly known as T.S.S.S. was found in 1972. It is the official organ of the Catholic Diocese of Palyamkottai. It works for the social advancement of a large number of vulnerable and downtrodden people in the society. It has diversified its activities and reaches out to cover a large number of poor people in order to create wider, deeper and sustainable impact on development of the poor and marginalized sections of the society. The motto of T.S.S.S. is “That they may have Life”.

Operational area:

TSSS works in 18 blocks situated in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin civil districts and Tirunelveli corporation. The grassroots organizations of TSSS sprout its roots in 404 villages and 26 wards situated in the above-mentioned working area.

From 1972

Charity and welfare programmes such as school feeding, poor feeding, food for work, health camps and some relief programmes during emergency situation like flood and drought.

From 1984

Evaluation took place and the recommendation mandated TSSS to take up motivation programme as a top priority to create awareness among disadvantaged of their life situation, rights and privileges.

From 2005

Livelihood promotion (Sustainable agriculture / Eco farming and Health promotion) through rights based approach and care and Support programme.

Strengthened Community organisations like Self Help Groups, Farmers Groups, Children’s groups and federated them at higher Levels.
